hi and assalamualaikum.hows everyone doing.....I hope everyone is okay and under protection of Allah.Alhamdulillah im fine.This post gonna be a short post but with lost of pics to lust for :D hehehehe

Kasyaf is a new label of muslimah couture by a prominent young designer,Hatta Dolmat.

Quote from Hatta website :

For this collection,Hatta Dolmat popularized the use of lycra fabric in styling muslimah couture,in variety of design and silhouette,kasyaf tries to give something new to the high end women about muslimah couture through a modest design but still gives satisfaction in term of style

Chiffon fabric is still on demand in the market,for this reason Hatta try to expand the use of lycra in the local fashion scene

There are not much information yet about this collection,lets wait until the official launch or press covers.On my personal view,I like the collection,it looks exclusive,elegant,modern and modest.Although kaftan is so normal in the muslimah couture scene,I shouldn't judge bcuz he knows better and has made research related to hijabi style.The kaftan kurung is definitely a fresh new idea and these 2 pieces is great for mix and match.Most of the pieces are plain without prints with elaborate flares and decorated with fine detailing at the sleeves,body and shoulder area and .I'm not sure of the motive/pattern of the detailing but it translates to luxury.Color wise all comes in bright color.Overall,as the first attempt in making muslimah couture clothing,he succesfully injects haute couture into the design of this collection without compromising on modesty.

Salam and greetings everyone,I'm very sorry that I haven't update for a very long time.It's hard to make a post when I have limited access to the net,bcuz everytime I make a post it always took few hours for me to finalize,I do like to make a quality article.I'm thinking to revamp my blog,decorate here and there,update my blogroll and add more friends.Thanks to everyone that has been visiting and reading my blog all this while,I really appreciate.My blog will blow its 1 year candle in august.I'll write bout summer trend for the next post,so keep coming back ok.....take care for now and wassalam

So did anyone went to to see the 1st Malaysia international shoe exhibition in pwtc 2 weeks ago? I went on the last day late that evening and they were already clearing the place.The exhibition room look nicely decorated with stage with chandelier lamps and some fancy couture dress.I happened to pass by Dato Jimmy Choo and I nodded and smile at him :) he was being ushered out from the room.I got to take these two stunning shoes pictures from Bill Keith booth

Assalamualaikum and how are you doing.I hope everyone is doing great.I know its been late but I still wanna wish :Happy New Year and wishing for a great life ahead.

I'm very sorry that I haven't update for months,reason being I've lost my sense of blogging.But I will not forget my vow when I made this blog,that I wanna improve my English,and make friend with the other sisters and exchanging views with them,especially issues related to muslimah and hijabi fashion.I love to see how the other sister talks about the importance of islamic dressing code and how they apply it to their everyday life no matter where they are.

So now I'm back,and I dont have many ideas on what to write,I did before listing some topic that I wanna write here,but that is last year and I totally had forgotten them

ok so first I wanna make a review about our own malaysian designer,Rizalman Ibrahim first ready wear muslima collection.The label is called "puteh" whichs translates to "white".Many of the design are primarily long loose tunic and caftan,which is very versatile and is a favourite among the hijabi celebrity in malaysia.I often see Ekin donning this kinda of style.Most of the design looks very elegant,with oriental inspire stones/beads detailing around the neck and the sleeve.I like the minimalist look with couture touch which he translate in his pieces.And the colors is inspiringly spring too...you can see hues of fuchsia,cobalt blue,soft tone yellow,satin grey,and the staple black.

I also would like to comment on this photo from sartorialist.I think it's the first time I saw hijabi photo in sartorialist(correct me if I'm wrong).This photo is undeniably great.The women put on an assemble like as if she is ready for the photo shoot.Her earring,her scarf,her bags all coordinates well.and the photo itself looks so professional,as if she's a real life model.Her expression,her smile....is so priceless.It shows how happy and wonderful she feels for being a hijabi.One aspiring picture i must say

On my quirky side,I'm longing this LuLu Guinness clutches,I want all of the colour available hehehe,of course,there's no harm in dreaming ;).I even got myself a handbag with a lippie opening and i love it to bits,but these clutches are just so girly and tempting,not the price though.

I close this entry with pictures of malaysian hijabi celebrity at the last IFF.I'm terribly sorry ,I have no idea what to write but i really miss to blog.I miss all of you my sister,I cant name all of you bcuz it maybe wont do fair but you know it.In malaysia and abroad....always in my remembrance.Take care for now .maas salama

I'm officially hooked to the zebra prints bcuz I love the white and black combo,its so gorgeous to my eyes.aren't zebra beautiful.tall and outstanding I'm never really into animal prints but I dont know why suddenly I become crazy of zebra prints .I actually have this handbag from kathy van zeeland,with black and white leopard prints,with faux fur and all that,but when I bought this bag I wasn't very happy bcuz on the first the day I use it,one of the stud is missing and later on many part of the interior stitches tear apart.I was thinking it was such a low quality bag,nonetheless I get so many compliment on the bag

Bought this at Stage,pavillion nearly 2 years ago.Will show the real picture later,it has totally worn out.Not sure if the store still exist or not.They sell american brand such as steve madden,betsey johnson,Jlo,Jessica simpsons and kathy van zeeland.

So if I were to buy one item with zebra prints,I'd love to have a handbag.Gottta look around for that,something that suit my budget .For the meantime,I'm salivating over this.....

The key to wear animal prints is moderation.You don't deck head to toe with animal prints unless you going on safari visit to Kenya.That said,the safest way is to choose one piece that you'd like to wear and try to match with our outfit,for example a belt,scarf,coat,handbag or shoes.This pump is freakin fabulous

Dear my fellow bloggers and readers,assalamualaikum and how are you.I hope everyone is okay and in their best of health.I'm very sorry for not updating for such a long time,its just that,after one week of eidilfitri,i told myself that i'll start updating my blog,but then ,everyday i found myself procrastinating my plan.I'd say...ok i feel lazy and dint know what to write for today,i'll do it tmrw......the procrastination goes on.but anyway....

Talk about eidilfitri and I know some of u will say,oh that's past already,well yeah u may be right but in Malaysia there's a saying : fasting one month,eidilfitri also one month :) People in Malaysia celebrates the blessed month of syawal as the celebration month,the months to visits old friends and relatives,near and far.For the whole one month our house door is open to everyone to visit and also families arrange "open house"( eid gathering) throughout the whole month.

Moving on from eid stories,I got some souvenirs from Oman.yes...i love Oman so much,from its warm people to its incense and perfume to Oman chips.I got a perfume from al-halal ,two shaylas,one superbig size 60 abaya I'm so small anyway :( ,lots of oman chips and strawberry flavoured puck cream and the ever yummy regal picon cheese.I'm just so happy even if I only receive a mountain dew drinks from oman...

Nuzul al-Quran(the revelation of the Quran) on 17 Ramadhan

Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur’an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.
(Surah al-Baqarah, ayat 185)

Today,17 Ramadhan marks the 1399 years of the Nuzul Al-Quran.On that day Allah S.W.T reveal al-Quran to Nabi Muhammad S.A.W through malaikat Jibreel in Hira' cave at the top of a hill name Jabal Nur,Makkah Al-Mukarramah.When Nabi Muhammad S.A.W was isolated himself from the wrong doings of his people,malaikat Jibreel come and reveal the first 5 ayat of surah Al-Alaq,and thus Nabi Muhammad S.A.W was appointed as Rasullulah and the nabi akhir zaman(end of the times)

On the 17th of Ramadan, in most Muslim countries, we are celebrating Nuzul al-Quran marking the time when the whole content of the Qur’an is descended from Lawh al-Mahfuz to Bayt al-`Izzah and marking too the first time Qur’anic verses are revealed from Bayt al-`Izzah to Prophet Muhammad SAW before they are revealed bit by bit for around 23 years after that.

Nuzul Al-Quran is one of Allah blessing towards its believers .It give reminders and big lesson for us.Al-Quran has become our guidance,our source of knowledge in life and afterlife.As a muslim.Beliving in Al-Quran is one of our pillars of life.Al-Quran is also called an-nur which means the light that shines.Every contain in Al-quran is true

I hope on this blessed day we not forget to seek blessing from Allah.

Hi everyone.Assalamualaikum and how are u?I hope everyone is ok.I'm getting better alhamdulillah.Anyway I realized that in my previous post I featured lots of non-malaysian food.So for this post I'd like to show some of my favorite malaysian food.

1)Sambal Belacan.This a chilli paste we often make this paste to be eaten with selected ulam [raw vegetable/herbs(beneficial for health and youthness)],and we dip it with anything that we like,for example with fried chicken,fried fish and so on

2)Chicken rice.Originally brought in by the chinese ancestors that migrates from china to malaysia.The rice is cooked with fragrant rice to ignites the aroma and chicken stock is used to make the yellow color of the rice.Serve with soy-sauce marinated chicken,plain chicken soup,chilli sauce and soy sauce

3)Satay.Barbecue chicken/meat skewers serve with peanut sauce,cube,rice,onion and cucumber.The marinated meat; chicken or beef, are skewered onto bamboo sticks and grilled over hot charcoals.

4)Ayam percik.Chicken grilled with bamboo stick,and simmer with sweet and sour hot sauce

5)Laksa-Thick rice noodles served in a tangy fish soup/gravy, made with mackerel and lots of aromatic herbs. Fresh garnishing of shredded cucumber, lettuce, pineapple, onion and fragrant mint leaves finishes the dish.

6)Ais kacang or ABC.Shaved ice mixed with different syrups and some jellies and nuts and red bean .Perfect on a blistering hot summer

7)Taufu-fa .Tofu served with palm sugar syrup or the normal white sugar syrup.Made from soya bean and very healthy snack

And below is a selection of porridge and kuih(dessert).We usually have these for breakfast or evening tea

3)Strawberyy with chocolate.I like strawberry from Cameroon Highland they so nice and not sour at all.I also like strawberyy with cream and honey

5) Nandos.The hot flavor grilled peri peri chicken is unforgettable

6)Cha-cha porridge.sweet traditional delicacies

7)Nasi kerabu.yeah people the rice colour is as blue as the sky hehe

8)Fattoush.crispy,tangy,all those black olive....simply irresistable

This post is dedicated to fairy,who asking about maxi dress for petite girl.Now even though the summer season has past in the west,but u can still incorporating this look in our tropical country.For a petite girl,you can look up at marie kate/ashley olsen and nicole richie as your style icon

My fav maxi style is to pair it with a denim jacket.It looks so casual.....If nicole folded the sleeve around her elbow,you can fold it around your wrist

Also you can pair maxi dress with a cardigan.....because that most maxi are printed with patterns,tone down the pattern with a plain cardigan and hijab.You can wear hijab with little print but not anything too crowded..

Maxi with jacket is also a good matching.I always seen Yuna pairing everything that she wear with jacket.A black leather jacket will do to add an edgy touch

Accessories wise,there's no need for heavy accessories with all those prints.All you need is your statement handbags and a pair of flats/sandal/gladiators.If your maxi is too long and sweep the floor,you can wear heels.As comfy and as relax as it is to wear maxi,one should enjoy the comfort of a flat as well.
Make sure you wear an inner wear if your maxi is showing your chest.And plz no funny layering.I know some girls layered their clothes to covered here and there,but some are as ridiculous as superman costume layering.It shows their bust line....body....I hope you know what I mean

Move over,large supersize bag.A new wave has come.The girls is ditching their supersize bag over the more humble size long strap bag.The beauty of the long strap handbag is that you can wear it cross-body, leaving your hands free as you make your way through the day. Love the structured long strap handbag against a flowy dress - a mix of the tailored and the romantic. Mix things up even more with a pair of gladiator sandals to add a bit of toughness to the look.

In kl,mostly that wear this type of bag are those vintage clad girl,but I'm a fan of this type of bag too.Large bag is convenient,I agree,but I found out that I'm carrying too many stuff with me eg: umbrella,novels/small magazine,body lotion,mineral water,sanitizer etc.Sometimes I find it hard to find stuff when a day I forgot to organize my bag,and all the things scattered inside and it took 5 mins full of patience to find a key!Also,carrying a heavy bag cause me shoulder pain,and I had to carry the bag with my hands sometimes to let go of the pain

Last year,I had a long strap bag that i wore it till it worn out.I love it so much,I was into grey and metallic at that time.I buy another bag after that,its black and I've been using it ever since.But now I'm gonna revert to this type of bag so that I don't hoard everything when I go out

Wedding gift-how much are you worth?

I'm intrigued to write about this issue after seeing a local celebrity who is a long time millionaire,giving his new bride only RM 3000 as the wedding gift.He said he give all of his true heart and love as the wedding gift.In Malay culture, a wedding gift is a must along with the mahar,which usually consist of cash and lavish gifts such as jewelery,expensive handbags and shoes,mobile phone,expensive cosmetics,sweets such as cakes and gourmet chocolate.There is even a girl with wedding gift of RM444,444.44 and mahar of RM22,222.22,divorce after a year.Now,I understand in some culture like arab and pakistan,this amount is normal,but not to our culture.

Example of wedding gift

Generally,there are 4 types of bride

1)The humble bride-I conclude this is the people with wedding gift of Rm10,000 or less
2)The standard figure bride-Anything between RM10,000 to RM 20,000
3)The proud and show off bride-ridiculous figure and love to play with number with a symbolic excuse
4)The secret bride-will not tell the amount

Expensive mahar has become such a trend in our community lately.Its like a symbol of pride among new bride.The higher the better.It seems that these type of people is so proud to announce "their value".To read about new bride getting wedding money/gift with preferable and extraordinary number as they claim-RM 77,777, RM 33,333.33,RM 11,111.11,makes me grasp for breath.As if their other lavish wedding gift is not enough for them

Now I'm opposed to this idea of exorbitant money .Its becoming a trend and its not healthy at all.It cause riak.(رياء). It cause influence among other bride to be.It's burdening the future husband and cause them to borrow here and there.Its not good to start a new life together with debts.It cause the man to think twice to get marry and makes some of them delaying marriage ,involve sin with their partner.It really doesn't matter how much money your future husband have,but as a Malay I think we should always preserve our humble sifat,right?A low mahar doesn't make us less valuable.In Rasullullah hadis from Aisyah,The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) have said: "The most blessed marriage is the one with the least expenditure".(Hadis riwayat Al-Baihaqiy)

From Aisyah,The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "The blessing of a woman is in making her engagement easy and in making her dowry affordable."(Hadis riwayat Al-Baihaqiy)

The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) told a poor companion may Allaah be pleased with him who was poor and did not have anything to give as a dowry to his wife: "Give her even a ring of iron."(Hadis riwayat Bukhari)

Imam al-Shafi’e narrated in his book al-Umm from Abu Yahyah that he said: 'I asked Imam Rabeeah about the minimum Mahr, he said, any amount that is agreed on by both parties. I said, ‘If it is only a Dirham?’ He said, ‘Even if it is half a Dirham.’ Then I said, ‘If it is less than that,’ he said, ‘yes, even if it is a handful wheat or a seed of wheat’.

In the time of Rasullullah S.A.W,there's even a poor man who give ayat quran as the mahar for his bride.How noble is that.

I think we should educate our people,that instead of giving the customary RM80 mahar,why not we raise the mahar value and lower down the wedding gift

I know of 2 Malaysian celebrities with a humble wedding money.Zahnita,a famous model and part time actress,married few years ago with a wedding money of RM5,000.She said her wedding day was such a blessing that people that come in to her wedding give them money(a traditional practice to donate money to the host) that can buy her a Proton Gen 2 car(approximately RM55,000 ) and Alhamdulillah this girl living happily with her husband and a baby girl

Another one is Norman of KRU.Being a big boss in big entertainment production,he is determine to not marry the glam and glitzy local celebrities,and choose to end his bachelor life with a women older than him(following sunnah) ,and giving her only RM3000 as the wedding gift.

I went to sunway pyramid last nite to check on bib necklace.I arrive at around 9 pm.Not having much time,I rush to miss selfridge.They got one bib necklace with purple stones.But all the accessories are from Diva.They are on 50% discount.I left the shop,rushing to check other shop.A few shop forward,I found diva.I love this Australian brand,they categorize accessories by colours and all of their accessories are affordable and trendy.My eyes scanning the items hanging neatly on the display,and tadaaa....the first thing I spotted is a lace bib necklace,almost similar with the picture I put in previous post, with additional stones.Ok sabar....sabar...I told myself.I scan some more and i saw this one large stone bib,grab it and put it on.Its nice,quite large with a glamour touch to it.

Overall,there are some nice bib design at Diva.But mostly are black colour.I become confuse as which one to buy.I count my budget.haha.Try out a few bangles and bracelet,and after much consideration.....I bought two bracelet.One is this faux diamond and pearl bracelet to wear for eid,and one is gypsy coins bracelet for casual day outing.

And that's one of the reason why I excuse myself to buy a new wallet cum clutch.Its glossy,with a gold chain strap and a line of small stones to add the glamour touch to it.ceh perasaan hehe :D .I been thinking to buy this for quite some time,considering that almost all my bag are either normal size or supersize,and I'm not gonna toting them around during eid.

I know the trend of bib necklace has been going around for quite some time.They are called bib necklaces for the obvious reason of how it looks like a baby’s bib. It is broad and has linked stones or other elements stuck on together which makes everything look like they’re floating on your neck.Bib necklace is a great accessory to complement a plain and bold outfit.I've been adoring them but i haven't buy any yet.The thing is,my shopping zaman(time) is already over and I'm so....not into shopping.I hate to have tonnes of unused stuff and have to declutter my crib every now and then.I'm very particular when I shop,and only buy when I feel that I've found the best bargain

Arabic is such a beautiful language.Undoubtedly,as a muslim,you will have this special feelings to learn the language.Especially when you listen to beautiful Quran recitation and and pondering about the meaning behind those beautiful sounds that you hear.Now,I have to admit that to learn the formal arabic language is "so difficult".It seems that some people can take the difficulty and some not.In school they teach you the same grammar every year for 5 years,fe'el madi,fe'el mudorik,fe'el amar....and u tries to memories the countless pronouns....ana(I),nahnu(we),antum(all of u-men),antunna(all of u-women).....
Some of us giving up,citing that arabic is very difficult.I was one of them.But after my school years,I fall in love with arabic language through friends and songs.I got the opportunity to befriend with some arab friends and I'm enjoying to learn the non formal arabic(ammiyah).I have to admit that to learn something you need patience and perseverance.If you interested in arabic,and you feel hard to digest the formality of the grammar,you can try by practicing easy words and get an arab friend and learn with them.

I'm very excited when the arab speaks malay for daawah purpose.Take example of ustazah dr fatma az-zahra.Hails from Egypt,she meet her husband while he was studying in Egypt.They wed and come back to malaysia,where she open up her clinics in kelantan,preaching daawah while treating her patient.I have read somewhere that,during that times,there are not so many women wearing hijab,and people around were gossiping that she is bald,and that's why she was covering.Such is the shallow thinking of the people back then.I have to admit that in the 70's not so many malaysian women wearing hijab,even my father was studying in islamic school during his secondry year and the female student were wearing hijab with hair bangs.How ridiculous,when all of religious school in malaysia now impose a round large hijab as their uniform.Anyway,back to dr fatma,she is now a prominent figure in malaysia,awarded the datuk(sir) title,sought after by many people to give lectures.Everytime i saw her lecture on tv,I'm totally hooked.They way she talk is so soft and gracious.When I hear her talk,i feel like i want to cry and embrace her.

I for sure know some arab here that speak fluent malay.But I feel touch when there are people learn my language to help sharing knowledge and daawah.For example,ustaz abdul aziz,a syariah graduate from university al azhar.In the video,he said that he learn malay because he feel pity for some malay student studying in al-azhar,struggling to learn their kitab(books) because of their failure to master the formal arabic.He was very dedicated to learn malay language that he memorize ten new words everyday.It took him many years to master malay language,which I must say,subhanallah,very fluent and I'm impressed.Ustaz Abdul Aziz also has been working in some educational institution in malaysia.When i see this ustaz on the video,I can relate on how a beautiful muslim man he is.In every words he utter,there's no bad words or something provoking.He even compliment about malay people.I mean,our mouth is amanah from Allah,and Allah give us mouth to recite syukur,to recite zikir to Him,to whisper only good words.

One of the reason that I make this blog is because I wanted to share with the people out there about the hijabi scene in malaysia.This is because I often stumble upon malaysian hijab and clothing articles in other non malaysian sisters.they show interest on our square tudung bawal,baju kurung and they adore our wedding dress.I got the urge to make this blog so that I could share with the sisters out there who would like to know more about what the hijabi here wear and about our culture.Please take note that I'm not promoting certain way of dressing,I would fairly write about any hijabi dressing style.If I saw a sister wearing her hijab and her chest and all her body covered,i would say : Alhamdulillah,and I would pray for her to dress better if there's something misssing in her dressing

The hijabi youngsters here love to wear casual,by means they love the casualty of western clothing.Some wear it right,with t-shirt long enough to cover their hands and bottom,but sadly,some not.Some groups of young women prefers to wear traditional clothes like baju kurung and baju kebaya,and you can see many of them in town clad in their traditonal clothes going out and about their business.

A minority of youngsters choose jubah(jalabiya) and niqab/purdah as their daily wear.They usually pair their jubah with a tudung bulat(a large scale round shape hijab).

The older aunties,usually choose long blouse with long skirts.But still,many loves baju kurung.Baju kurung is one of our traditional dress.It's a long sleeve knee length dress,paired with the matching long skirt.Baju kurung is also the traditional clothes for the Malay people in Riau,Indonesia,Singapore, Brunei,and surprisingly,I found this in Wikipedia,Cocos Island in Australia,where the malay minority still lives there.There are a few types of baju kurung ,namely baju kurung kedah,baju kurung pahang,baju kurung cekak musang,baju kurung moden and baju kurung johor.The fabric for baju kurung varies,from cotton,chiffon to silk.Over times,baju kurung has evolve into many "moderm design" tu suits the younger generation taste.Baju kurung is the official wear in government agencies and also offical school uniform.Malaysian women loves the baju kurung so much that you can sometimes see chinese and indian women wear it,especially on friday.Chinese and indian school girl wearing baju kurung uniform is also a common sight in here.

Baju kebaya is a button down long dress,with waist cut,paired with matching long skirt.This outfit is body hugging,but some hijabi tailored it loose so its not too tight on them.Its the preferred outfit for wedding as well.Baju kebaya is also the traditional dress for Indonesian women and peranakan women(a chinese minority group that adapt to malay culture).During old days baju kebaya and baju kurung is the daily wear for the women.My grandmother is still wearing these two outfit as her daily wear.

With her casual and laidback look,Sharifah Hasif Fadzilah Syed Badiuzzaman looks like a typical malaysian hijabi.But deep inside,she's no ordinary girl because she recently won the women category of the 51th international tilawah Al-Quran competition,an annual competition held in malaysia since 1961.

Sharifah khasif is a bright 27 years old lass who is a well known qariah and has been participated in many tilawah competition.Typically in malaysia,when it comes to the images of qariah,hafeezah(a woman that memorize alquran) and ustzah(religious teacher) they were associated with certain islamic dressing style such as jubah(long jalabiya),very very big hijab and niqab.But contrary to the people stereotype,Sharifah khasif proves that dressing appearance doesn't matter to her.She is a modern qariah that is not shadowed by those image.

As quote,she said :

-To me,let fashion against the wave,but not against the aqidah.About clothing choice or fashion,ask your heart.What important is honesty(ikhlas).Only god knows whether we are ikhlas or not.There's no need to shadow the sight of public by wearing such clothing.Its better just to be yourself.

-Even though I'm a qariah,it doesn't mean that i have to dress up like a ustazah,wearing a large hijab with niqab and wearing stocking.Thats not who i am..I'm comfortable with my style,simple and laid back.I have to be honest with myself

-What is important is holding tight to your aqidah and know how to limit between halal and haram.I'm also aware ,of how to style hijab and dress up according to age and situation.

Not having a formal islamic education,she is raised by her strict father to learn Al-Quran since a young age.Her family upbringing teaches her to read Al-Quran every time after each prayer.Her father would send her and her brothers to learn alquran in masjid and various places.She also has participated in many Al-Quran competition since the age of 7.As the result,she is now fluent of 7 style of taranum(way of reciting Al-Quran with certain style/rhyme) which is bayati, soba, nahwand, rast, sikah, hijaz, dan jiharkah.She credit her late father for her sucess that has bring her all over the world,from Iran to South Africa

I adore Sharifah Khasif,for her to change the perception of muslimah dressing in my country.Because over here,there are still many people that would judge you by what you wear.For example,if you're an Islamic teacher,you're often subjected to certain islamic dressing image,people would expect you to wear like that.And you will wear according to what this people verify to avoid their fitnah.I must say that her image is an eye opener to the people here to not judge people by what they wear

1)Tell us a lil bit about yourself

I'm a Year 4 student, my final year, and I'm studying at Institut Perguruan Bahasa-bahasa Antarabangsa. I'm doing B. Ed. TESL tweening program with University of Auckland, NZ. Right now I'm doing my 3-month practicum at a highschool in Subang. I like to shop, and I shop pretty much everywhere ^^;;; bundle, online vintage blogs, Trademe (NZ's answer to ebay), highstreet shops, FOS, and where ever.

2)What kinda of hijab do u like to wear,and what hijab style do u like ?

I wear the normal tudung bawal type and also the selendang type. You know, lilit-lilit tu haha I dont know what they call that.

3)As a muslima fasionista,whats is ur fashion mantra?Do u have any signature style(as i see u're so much into vintage).Or are u up to any style?

Well, I dont really see myself as a "fashionista". I pretty much wear what I like and what I feel like wearing. Plus, I dont think I have a signature style. I think what I wear totally depends on my mood (and the weather) at that point.. I also think that I'm pretty open to different kinds of style, and not just one specific style.

4)I learn that you're so much into different pants style.While some people like me dont have the guts to pull out some style like wide leg pants,u do justice in carrying the look.Any tips on how to choose different pants style?

Ah yes, right now I prefer tapered pants to skinny jeans. I really like the shape of it. They are pretty structured and comfortable. I guess you have to know your body shape well. And just try on the pants before passing it off just like that. You wouldnt know how they would actually look like on you unless you try them out first right?

5)Fashion tips for the muslima fashionista out there

Please dont wear leggings/tights if youre wearing the scarf/hijab. That's one pet peeve that I have ^^;;; Besides that, know what you like, and dress how you like, and adhere to the things you need to follow, being a Muslim and all. It's a learning process, everyone's learning, yes? Dont blindly follow some trend just because it's cool :)

Since famous songstress Datuk Siti Nurhaliza started the trend of fully covered hair during the solemnization process,many of other celebrity has follow her footstep.Before her times,many bride's doesnt really care much about covering their hair properly,with many just donned a sheer veil.Properly worn hijab is essential especially if the nikah is held in a masjid.

Most of the new bride and groom goes white on their nikah day(as cliche as it is-to symbolise a pure new beginning),and goes to their choosen theme colour for another reception for family and friends.The dress that they wear usually are traditional inspired dress with a modern twist.From what i observe,most of them opted for a modern long kebaya with imported european luxury fabrics such as french lace,silk,chiffon,satin silk and beads and stones.

The hijab culture in malaysia is one amusing story.The young and old love to experiment with their hijab style from time to time.Design always changing,new trend come and go.You can find so many style over here,ranging from very big hijab to a mere head cover.The malay people like to match their hijab color with their outfit,thus one can find many choice of colours in the shop.From plain to prints,to embroided to beads,cotton to silk,the choice and design is endless.

Hijab in Malay language is called "tudung".So its very common for us to call a certain type of hijab as "tudung this" and "tudung that".The typical malay style hijab that is well known is called tudung bawal.It is made from a material called voile (Voile is a light weight woven fabric, generally made of 100% cotton or cotton mixes including linen or polyester).This fabric is very light and comfy .Depending on the quality of the voile,the cheap ones usually is a bit rough to the touch,while the more pricier goes very soft and lightweight.a plain tudung bawal is cheaper and usually made by a lower grade of voile,while the heavy embroided and crystallized ones can reach hundreds of ringgit.Tudung bawal comes in square shape,folded in the middle to form a triangle,and usually worn with matching brooch.

The younger generation loves to experiment with various hijab style.Pashmina shawl,made famous by tv personality Wardina Saffiyah,win the hearts of the youngsters because it can be shape into many style.Wrap it over head,twist it,gypsy or egyptian style,its so versatile.its also functional to carry a pashmina as it can double into a wraps over a cold rainy day,or to cover our body if our aurah is showing.Wearing a long wrap hijab like pashmina and shaylas may be tricky,but the youngsters love it.I've seen so many young girls on the street trying to pull out the shayla's look.

The current obsession in malaysia hijab trend is the awning style hijab,but from my observation,this hijab are more likely sought after by women in their mid 20's and above.The teenagers prefer the normal square hijab or shawl/wrap around.The awning style hijab has the special awning "cap" that can make your face visual contour look better.This hijab style,i believe,is influenced from indonesian hijab style,where they are famous with the "cap" style.Personally i have never try this hijab so i dont know much about the fabric.Here's some picture of the awning style hijab
